Hi all! The library world is pretty much on fire right now. Seriously, things are really frightening for us librarians. Besides the actual pandemic, we’re now coping with this latest viral onslaught of book challenges from conservative assholes.
Thankfully I have some good news to keep me sane. It turns out library legend Kat Kan, a pioneer in advocating for comics in libraries, has been following my career. I cannot describe how flattering that is. Kat has decided to retire from her position as Graphic Novel Specialist at Brodart, one of the most high-profile library vendors. Kat reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in inheriting the role from her, and I happily agreed.
This was my first week, and the staff at Brodart have welcomed me with open arms. While continuing as Collection Development Manager at my public library, in this new position I’ll be able to help libraries all over connect to comics and graphic novels.
